Verona, The City Of Love

I think they might call Verona the city of love because it is so easy to fall in love with. Down every street, and we walked a lot of them, there is something else that will steal your heart and leave you breathless. I have said it before I am a big fan of architecture and Verona offered so many beautiful historic buildings that I might have been in heaven. I admit that I am guilty of falling a little in love with every place that we visit but Verona really does top my list.…

Three Days In Dublin

Ireland has been on my travel list for many years yet despite being only an hour plane trip away I had yet to see it. It was with great enthusiasm that I got to plan a little hop over to Dublin for a few days while we had family visiting this summer. For me it was love at first sight. Dublin is beautiful city and completely walkable which is my favourite way to see any new city. We did by the city tour bus tickets but except for a couple of the stops we really…

Scotland 2018 Highlights

This summer we got to visit with my brother and sister in law and take an epic road trip around Scotland. I have to say that during this trip I learned that I like road trips much more in theory than I do in practice but that it was worth the discomfort to get to explore a beautiful country like Scotland. In the week that we were travelling we put more than 1200 miles on the car and as you can imagine we saw more of Scotland than I could ever share with you in…

Nice, France Photo Diary

My sister came for a visit and to get a little extra bonding time we planned a quick trip to Nice, France. Sadly on my first use of my camera it stopped working, this is becoming a semi regular problem which I think means it's time to get a new one. Without a camera, I was armed with only my iPhone and a determination to capture this amazing city so I could share it with you. I would apologise for the overload of pictures that you are about to get, but I am not that…

Santorini For A Day

I am pretty sure that is impossible to completely avoid photos of picturesque Greece in this day and age, perhaps particularly Santorini. On my first trip to Greece, with my husband, we missed the opportunity to visit this well known destination and I was not going to miss the chance this time around. Before I had even arrived in Greece I had booked the excursion to Santorini for my daughter and I, beyond anxious to capture some of my own photos of the famous island. It is a nearly two hour ferry ride from the…

What I Miss About Canada

This week we will celebrate 5 years living in England. There are so many wonderful and challenging things about being an expat but I find as it gets closer to this landmark that I am reflecting more and more about the things that I miss most about Canada. So far I don't have any regrets about out decision to move abroad. It has been a rather monumental adventure, but in my heart there is still a tug towards my home in Canada. The longer I am away the more I am sure that this yearning…

Paradise House Hotel, Bath

As you know my husband and I recently celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. My husband, researcher that he is, went on a search for highly rated hotels for us to spend some time in and found the Paradise House Hotel in Bath. The rave reviews made him book a night, which was all that was available, to see if our experience would match those that had been there before us. The front of the building is pretty unassuming and I have to say I was not instantly sold on the place as we rang the…

Why You Should Visit Greece In October

When my husband and I decided we needed a quick getaway together we had two factors we considered while narrowing down our options: cost and weather. Because of the last minute nature of our trip we needed it to be affordable and with the onset of the cooler weather I really wanted to be somewhere where I could feel warmer. My husband happens to be a google ninja and seems to enjoy researching a thing to the point of exhaustion, or at least until I am exhausted and wish he would just make a decision.…

Movies That Inspire Travel

In all honesty I don't really need a movie to give me the desire to travel, that bug has already bit me hard. I love the idea of jumping on a plane and exploring someplace new, eating great food, and immersing myself in a new culture. I love city breaks and tropical getaways. I rarely visit a new place that I don't fall completely in love with. I can't help myself, the world we live in is just so beautiful and every new place I visit has some amazing new thing to discover. The problem…

Playing in Bournemouth

For us, Bournemouth is easily a day trip at only an hour and half away. In fact, we will often get up on a nice day and decide last minute to drive down to the beach there. I had thought about spending a night or two there this summer because I love being by the ocean but I may never have done it if it wasn't for my daughter. Leandra enrolled in a makeup artistry course that was only offered in cities that were not Swindon and the soonest one she could get into was…
